Version: 1.89.3full, i found a bug, the description of the second individual upgrade option for each camp’s generator is garbled
like this:
$1829382 No Range
Normally it is better to report in the discord as we are more active there. However I can take an extra look, it could be two things. One, it could be that the installation failed on something small and I could recommend a re-installation, this error can be common if there is not 10+GB of room for the installation. Two, it could be a legitimate missing description but I’ll be taking a second look anyway for the next patch/update. Thank you for the comment.
I have the same problem 🙁
Is it possible to add the Unification Unit Models for Ultimate Apocalypse? In the next update or an addon file?
What andrew said.
Explicit and categorical no.
EDIT: prohibition includes DKoK models from the DKoK mod.
Dev teams are not on good terms. Unification team specifically forbids use of their models in official UA releaes.
Well that just sucks, thanks for the info
The irony is that they continue to use our assets, and our assets have been free to the community to use since inception. Only Unification appears interested in preventing other teams from using their art assets, and starting fights between other dev teams on such topics. Meanwhile, if you want to use our art, all you need to do is contact us and let us know you’re doing it. Good to go. Even Unification can use our stuff, not that they would ask anyway.
It’s iffy tho. They made the models and they should be able to use em. As for the models you were promsied you should use yes
What do you understand as ‘our assets’?
Old team developed and modeled those assets. They didn’t give them up to UA mod, although you may use models present in version 1.88.731
Allow me to explain how things work, I will use some small stories to help you understand.
If you work for say, Toyota as an engineer and design a new type of door that looks really cool, and then leave the company, you don’t get to take your door with you. Sure, that’s a paid position right? But all the same, you designed a thing, it was neat, you left, but that doesn’t mean that’s your door design.
If you are a kid in high school, happen to be a good artist and your friend who plays a table top 40k RPG with you asks you to draw his character because you’re such a heckin good artist, which you do because you’re such good buds but then you guys have a falling out, while you can *ask* to get that art back your friend is under no obligation to return it to you as it was freely given.
If you’re an art developer in a mod, while you’re working with that mod team, anything you submit to that mod is the property of said mod. You don’t still own it just because you made it while you were on the team. While I am not going to get into individual textures and models with you, suffice to say, the art that was produced with the «old team» are assets that «belong» to UA. I highly recommend that you research the legal definition of «freely given.»
You’re seriously comparing a mod to a company? That’s a bit overboard.
Kid in high school who had a falling out is not forbidden to use his assets in another mod.
I think the core of the issue is: modding community is formed on trust. If trust runs out, that’s how it ends. Pressing on the sentence «UA owns those assets» is not going to change anyone’s mind on this matter. You are instead forcing old dev team to take a decisive stance.
Besides, as I’ve said, you can use models present in version 1.88.731. What more do you want?
I’m not asking for permissions to use Unification assets. I am pointing out, and have pointed out twice, that Unification is the only dev team in Soulstorm that tries to prevent others from using their work in their own projects. We have a clear statement in the EULA that we drafted that actually says that our work is community property for anyone to use, we merely wish to have credit for anything taken.
You on the other hand, are trying to stir old fights back up, and having reviewed your post history, I do believe you may be a unification developer, especially given the statements you’re making where you are effectively giving the same line of «you can use things made before 1.88.731» which nobody is even asking.
And yes, I am comparing a mod to a company. Any effectively developed software must operate like a «company» and if it does not, it came together purely on accident. If you want meaningful development, and improvements that make sense, you must have organization.
You’ve said that «our work is community property for anyone to use, we merely wish to have credit for anything taken.» Yet, on your main page here you haven’t credited any of the old developers of this mod. That’s clear double standard.
Can you post a link to this EULA? I can’t seem to find it.
All credits from the UA mod can be found by going to the credits section of the mod itself when you open up soulstorm. Everything listed is there with specifics on what models used. If there is something we missed, we will update them.
The EULA we have can be found when pressing «I accept» on our installer.
Apologies for Joe’s last comment. There is soooo many Unification devs, our mistake.
Well not really.
They never gave up the rights to the models they made,
belongs to them. Not UA.
And the toyota analogy is flawed. Since that’s a position defined by a contract.
I’ve had such contracts myself (not models), were it is stated that everything i made for the purpose of that company belongs to that company not me.
And I don’t see how everything submitted to mod is the property of that mod.
It’s the «property» of the one who has the *digital signature* (i.e model maker) unless explicitly wavered by contract.
Good news, you don’t need to.
No. But you need to see how the models made by the mods devs in question, are not «assets that belong to UA»
Actually, no I don’t.
If you have a signed document where they sign over the rights of those models to UA.
Then you are right and I am wrong.
If you do not have such a document, then you are wrong and I am right.
If you have such a document stating that the models are “community property” you are still wrong in your assertion that it belongs to UA. It then belongs to «the community», free for anyone to use.
Which coincides with the uni dev’s position: that they have given consent for anyone to use the models up to a certain UA version.
But if you assert that those assets “belong to UA”, then it’s up to you to prove that claim. Until you do. Default position is that it is invalid.
If there is no such documents, but there was a EULA that was in effect when the models are made, then that would depend on the wording of that EULA.
If the EULA says what you say:
“a clear statement in the EULA that we drafted that actually says that our work is community property for anyone to use”
Then that is still not “assets that belong to UA” and not “our assets”.
That would be: their assets made free for public use.
My key point is the lack of UA ownership or claims to those models.
Even your own claim about the EULA negates UA ownership.
ya. plus I don’t want their models. So instead i’m making everything from scratch or from resources already available.
Plus this andrew guy is a Unification dev who is here pretending that he’s not.
This comment is like a dying horse kicking its last kick. So someone challenged your claim and then automatically that person is a unification mod dev. Interesting.
I mean I think he is. Regardless let UA take their quote on quote models who cares. at this point what Unification is going to have good content, and UA is going to have good content. They are two completely different mod’s with very different playstyles. So what they take their old models who gives a ****. I’m sure the unification devs have already updated them. But then again boundaries iguess who cares this community is small af anyway and the two biggest mod teams are bickering XD/ Also Clockwork is working on his own units so he says
UA and Uni models to be considered «UA rights» they need to follow the 5 principles of a contract:
Offer, Acceptance, Consideration, Intention and Capacity.
While yes commissed models from the leader of UA through direct messages in any social media is considered an Offer and the modeler accepting to make the model is Acceptance.
That does not mean is a legal contract. You need to satisfy all 5.
You need to offer a consideration for the model you requested, for example credits to the author and the modeler needs to offer something in return to UA.
Then for this conditions to be set you need to establish that you are legally bounded which Lord Cylarn went with EULA but its a EULA that Games Workshop dictates the terms, since they own the IP and you are using their products to make free content from them, not you guys so only by this means. The modeler does not need your permission to use any assets by the mod but by Games Workshop.
The final part of the contract is that both need to be recognized by the laws in question that you have the capacity to offer and accept contracts legally. Which both are.
In conclusion both mode developrs are not under any contract since both breach what a contract should accomplish since none offer any terms of consideration and that none of the mods are actually bounded by laws between developers since they both follow the EULA given by Games Workshop on how their assets should be used and they have the final say in legal matters of this case.
