Using the Golden Key [ edit ]
Locate The Golden Mysterious Loot Chest in the city/area of Concordia (i.e. where you are when you enter the game in Concordia or use a Fast Travel station). A golden key is consumed every time you open the Golden Mysterious Loot Chest, and your golden key amount is saved across all of your characters.
SHiFT Codes are special day promotional codes released by Gearbox Software and other sources, some of which only are active for a few hours.
Entering SHiFT Codes can reward you all sorts of stuff! Mostly just golden keys, but you might be rewarded with something else, other than just golden keys, such as:
Some SHiFT Codes have limited quantities and no longer work after a certain amount of people have used them. Other SHiFT Codes expire after a certain amount of time. To make sure you do not miss any SHiFT Codes, bookmark this page and check often!
SHiFT Codes may eventually expire. When a code expires, DO NOT REMOVE ANY CODES. Only mark that the codes have expired in the expected expiration section.

Golden Chest [ edit ]
Any item that comes from the chest is scaled to the level of the person who opens the chest. The minimum level that the items can be however, is 7. For example, if a level 4 opened the chest the gear would be level 7, while if a level 42 opened the chest it would be level 42.
Timing is very important when opening the chest. At lower levels (i.e. Player Level 5), you can expect to receive powerful gear that will most likely be a big improvement on anything that you currently own. But, at a higher level (for instance, the max level, Player Level 70), you may already have powerful gear or legendary items that are more powerful than the mysterious loot chest has to offer. Also, because the item’s level is scaled to your character’s level, it’s a good idea to open the chest very soon after you’ve leveled (and not to wait until you’re getting close to leveling), so you can spend as much quality time as possible making good use of that same-level item. If, however, you’re using the chest to simply sell items because you’re hard up for cash, timing doesn’t matter much. Occasionally, when multiple keys are used in sequence the chest may give one item (usually a rocket launcher), and remain stuck in the opened-state. But don’t be alarmed! Simply exit to the main menu and Continue to resume. ***This may occur if you pick up the item before the chest is fully open.***

Get Borderlands The Pre-Sequel Golden Keys by redeeming these SHiFT Codes. Almost every week Gearbox Software will release some SHIFT CODES for Golden Keys that you can redeem inside Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. Each code will grant you a certain amount of Golden keys to use within the game. Once you redeemed the SHiFT Code the Golden keys are available for all your characters. Go to Concordia and open the special chest for awesome loot. Borderlands the Pre-Sequel Golden Keys are shared over your vault hunters and can only be used once. Use claptrap’s secret storage to transfer gear to your other vault hunters if it is better suited for that character. About Golden Keys
Just like Borderlands 2, the Pre-Sequel is also using the SHIFT system to add in-game bonuses with in the Game. With Borderlands the Pre-Sequel you are able to add Golden keys to your Vault Hunters inventory. With these Golden Keys you are able to open a Golden chest in the center of Concordia, the games main story hub city. If you unlock the chest with one of your Golden Keys you will get some quality loot. The items inside are always random but mostly rare items will be given.
There are 3 ways you can redeem SHiFT Codes
While the Borderlands website itself is pretty popular for redeeming codes due to the VIP Codes. However, the site sometimes has some hiccups. So it’s possible you are not able to redeem a new code or it mentions you don’t have “platform x” linked to your account. If that’s the case try the SHiFT site as it’s more stable but redeeming codes in-game is the safest bet.
There is always the possibility that an individual code gives issues with your account. This could be a one-time thing. If you keep encounter these or some other sort of issues there might be a solution to your problem in the knowledge base or you can submit a ticket.
How to codes redeem in-game?
On the main menu of Borderlands the Pre-Sequel there is a “extras” menu. Here you can select “SHIFT CODES”, this will prompt a menu for you to enter the codes in order to acquire the Golden Keys.
Once you have found Concordia the main hub town in Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. In the center of the town is a SHIFT vending machine. Here you can add your “SHIFT CODES” on the second tab.
Once you redeemed your SHIFT CODES the given amount of Golden Keys will be available on the first menu tab of the SHIFT vending machine in Concordia. You can grab the keys with any character that’s able to reach Concordia.
