I have the game in my library, however, there is no option to ‘View CD Key’ when I right click on it. Could it have something to do with the game status being ‘not installed’ (even though I have it installed from SE’s website on my computer)?
EDIT: My other games that are installed (Dragon Age, Sims, etc.) offer the option to view the CD key. So, I guess I’ll need to uninstall and then reinstall through Steam? Seems a little silly considering all I really need is the code.

It’s how it is. You don’t have FF14 ARR installed in Steam? Can’t see the CD-key in the Library.
Just uninstall the Trial Client (which is the entire game client. all of it.. *sigh*), install on Steam (which means you now have installed the game. Again. But now you need almost 3GB more to download).
Presumably, you could interrupt the Steam install and just copy over the Trial Client, but I haven’t tried that yet.
PS You can also just keep the Trial Client / it’s the full game. Steam will install the ‘Steam version’ elsewhere, so if for some reason, you want to play the game without Steam. You can.

so i installed it logged in with my SE account and then it asked for a registration code but i cant find it anywhere
PS i cant find the CD-key
Anyone wondering about this in the future, right click the game in your Steam library list and click View CD key.
This may work for the ‘bought’ version, but we’re asking about the FREE TRIAL, which doesn’t come with a key.
I’m having the very same problem, and relaunching the launcher doesn’t help.
It keeps saying:
You could not log in because the service account in question is not registered.
If you would like to log in to the service, pplease log in to the Square Enix Account Management System and register the service account.
. which then asks to input a CD key.
Delete the Final Fantasy XIV folder listed in C:/Users/”username”/My Documents/My Games
Apart from the facts that
My «users» folder is not on C:\
and
my «%users%/[Username]» folder did not contain «My Documents»
this seems to have done the trick.
At least I could log in and it is downloading the client now. [Edit] Apparently there was so little left to download that it finished while I was typing this. [/edit]
For those having trouble finding the above mentioned folders, just go to «my documents» from you ‘Computer’ window directly. It should be in that little tree diagram on the lefthand side.
All I had to do was exit out of the launcher, run it again and log in. After that I was all set.

This is the only fix I could find. Nothing else worked. Which is completely and utterly retarded. I dont understand why the game would make you jump through all these hoops just to play a trial version of the game. You would think they would want to make it as easy as possible to get new people to play the game and potentially purchase it in the future.
That being said. This will have the be the best game to have ever gamed to get me to pay a monthly subscription. Is this game better than Netflix, better than Amazon video. You know with amazon prime/video I also get two day free shipping on all my purchases. Is FF14 better than that? We’ll see.

Пожалуйста прочитайте всю информацию ОЧЕНЬ внимательно и соблюдайте все пункты!
1. Зарегестрируйте свой аккаунт на сайте
Если у вас Еровпейская версия игры купленная в России то укажите
2. В коробке с игрой в зависимости от версии будет либо только сама игра, либо так же два дополнительных диска один с некоторыми треками и blu-ray диск о создании игры. Устанавливайте игру. Когда установка игры закончиться вы увидите такую страницу. Если вы пропустили по каким то причинам пункт 1. то нажимайте на нижнюю кнопку и регестрируйте свой аккаунт.
Для остальных выбираем верхнюю кнопку и вводим свой логин и пароль.
3. далее система попросит вас зарегестрировать игру.
Вводите 20-значный код игры, который выглядит вот так:
Поздравляю вы зарегестрировали игру. Теперь вам нужно дождаться обновления и начать играть! Приятной игры!

When does it basically start? When do you put in the code?
I am looking to try the 14 day trial, however I wouldn’t get the bonus until I buy the game?
Isn’t that dumb since its possible to get to 20 during the trial and the first perk only works up until 20 or 25?

What bonus? From the Recruitment / Friend Code? You get that when you’ve subscribe / paid for / added game time of 30 days or more. It DOES work for the free trial. Kinda. Since you do need to add game time and you can only do that after entering a game code aka ‘transfer to regular service’ i.e. your free-trial is now the full game.
You do not get any free days for the recruitment code.
Buy the game (before, after or during the free-trial. Doesn’t matter when).
Start / use the free-trial = 14 days ‘free’.
Once the free-trial is over, ‘transfer to regular service’ / convert from free-trial to the full game. The time you register the game code, is when the 30 free days start.
The friend code can be used / registered at any time BEFORE you add / pay for / subscribe for more game time. The 14 day free trial + 30 free day for buying the game does not count towards this.
Once you subscribe / pay for more game time, you cannot enter a friend code. But can generate one to give to others.
The ONLY bonus for using a friend code is the in-game headgear (+20% combat exp for any class/job that’s below level 25). If you think you can level all the classes and jobs past level 25 during your free-trial. someone needs to do an intervention in your life ^-^.
